Obtain The Nicotine Smell From Wooden Furniture

When you purchase or inherit a used piece of furniture from a smoker, the smell of nicotine permeates the room in which you place the piece. The sweet, sickly scent of nicotine is not generally what people want their homes to smell like. Unlike cigarette smoke, which doesn't stick to wood, the nicotine from the cigarettes does. Thankfully you can remove the nicotine smell from wooden furniture without damaging the wood.

Instructions

1. Eliminate nicotine odors from the inside out. Fill cloth bags with zeolite and distribute them in drawers, cabinets and on shelves. You can buy zeolite at your local pet store.

2. Apply Guardsman wood cleaner according to the directions. This design of this cleaner is to gently break down the buildup without damaging the wood.

3. Gently scrub. Using the #000 steel wool, scrub the wood with gentle pressure to further loosen the nicotine buildup.

4. Wipe down. With your soft rags, wipe up the nicotine residue and cleaning product. You may have to change rags often depending on the severity of the buildup.

5. Reapply and wipe again. If the buildup is severe, reapply the Gaurdsman wood cleaner, and wipe off with a clean, soft rag.

6. Polish the wood. After the wood is dry from cleaning, use a non-silicone, no-wax furniture polish. Polishing the furniture helps to further eliminate nicotine odors.
