Keep Nicotine gums From Bleeding

Keep Gums From Bleeding

When gums are inflamed or infected, often where they connect with the teeth, they often begin to bleed. Bleeding gums can lead to gum disease that causes them to recede, which can lead to teeth falling out. There are very simple steps you can take to help prevent bleeding gums.

Instructions

1. Brush and floss your teeth every day. One of the leading causes of bleeding gums is food particles getting stuck between your teeth and gums and rubbing against them. Regular brushing and flossing will prevent this.

2. Make sure you don't brush too hard or fast when brushing your teeth. Doing so can scrape tissue off your gums and lead to bleeding. Use a toothbrush with soft bristles.

3. Wash your mouth and gargle after brushing. Try using saltwater to gargle with, especially if you're experiencing some bleeding. Mouthwashes that contain alcohol can aggravate the problem.

4. Maintain a balanced diet. Restrict your consumption of food and drinks that are hard, sour, excessively hot or carbonated. Avoiding all these may not always be possible; just see that you don't eat or drink too much.

5. Take vitamins regularly to strengthen your gum tissue. If you're not getting enough vitamins in the foods you consume, take supplements with them.

6. Avoid smoking and chewing tobacco. Bleeding gums is just one of the dangers of tobacco, along with the stained teeth, bad breath and cancer.

7. Visit your dentist regularly. Have your teeth and gums inspected twice a year and properly cleaned for plaque removal.
