Detox Off Pulmicort

Get off Pulmicort for good

Pulmicort, an oral inhalant version of the corticosteroid pharmaceutical drug Budesonide, is intended for use as a treatment for asthma. Pulmicort is a nonaddictive inhalant that can be prescribed by your doctor if you have difficulty breathing because of allergies or asthma. It is not recommended that you stop taking Pulmicort without first discussing it with your doctor. Do not take Pulmicort if it has not been prescribed for you. Although Pulmicort is completely nonaddictive, you may have difficulties detoxing completely from Pulmicort or switching to another medication, especially during allergy season.

Instructions

1. Lower your dose slowly. If you are taking two puffs three times a day, start by taking two puffs twice a day and see how you feel for a week. If you are feeling fine after a week, try one puff twice a day. If your doctor recommends a different tapering technique, follow your doctor's technique instead.

2. Use over-the-counter saline nasal spray throughout the day to aid breathing. Saline nasal spray is nonaddictive and non-habit forming and can be used as often as necessary to relieve nasal pressure.

3. If you are having trouble breathing without taking Pulmicort, try steam inhalation. Fill the bathroom sink with hot water and place two bags of chamomile tea in the water. Place a towel over the back of your head as you lean over the steam. Breathe deeply until your chest is clear. Repeat as necessary throughout the day.

4. Rub a vapor rub under your nose and on your chest to loosen your congestion during the day. As you breathe the rub, your chest will loosen and you will find it easier to get through the day without Pulmicort.

5. If you are having trouble sleeping without Pulmicort, take a Benadryl or other antihistamine pill before bedtime.
