How Quit Smoking With No Patch

If you are thinking about quitting smoking without using the patch, you will need to ask yourself: how realistic are you about quitting? Many people are not addicted to the nicotine as much as they are addicted to the action of physically smoking. This means that most people can actually kick the physical craving in the first 24-48 hours. The patch may help you to suppress smoking, but not actually quit the habit altogether, so here are alternatives.

1. Stop smoking when you are thinking about smoking. This is the only way you are going to quit smoking - there is no way of getting around this. No matter if you are using the patch or not, this is something that is going to have to be done regardless.


2. Focus your mind on other things that include doing a short exercise such as push-ups, sit-ups, or even walking around the block a few times. This is ideal because you are adding two positives to the equation, not smoking and getting your circulatory system running again.


3. Chew nicotine gum if you are having a hard time with the cravings. While the physical cravings are less intense than the mental cravings, they can still drive you to want to smoke just as badly.


4. Avoid things that make you think about smoking. If you are someone who smokes when you drink, then try to avoid alcohol until you are able to have more control saying "no" to a cigarette. Taking yourself out of the equation can be the best course of action if you are feeling weak.
