Adderall is a medication available by prescription only, and used for the treatment of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). Adderall may also be used to treat Narcolepsy. Adderall is a stimulant and affects the central nervous system. A single dose of Adderall may stay in your system for up to four days.
Dosage
It is very important that you take Adderall exactly as it was prescribed by your physician. Never double up on your Adderall dosage, as this may cause an overdose to occur. Symptoms of overdose include feeling like you have the flu, or severe muscle pain, tremors, diarrhea/vomiting, as well as feeling restlessness. Difficulty breathing or rapid heartrate are also symptoms of Adderall overdose. Seek emergency medical attention for Adderall overdose.
Adderall In Your System
Adderall is detectible in your urine. A single dose of Adderall will stay in your system for approximately four days. If you have been taking Adderall regularly, it may take longer than four days for Adderall to remove itself from your body. If you are considering stopping treatment of Adderall, it is important that you discuss your decision with your doctor, as ADHD symptoms may reappear after stopping treatment of Adderall.
Adderall: Severe Side Effects
Adderall usage is associated with some severe side effects which require immediate emergency help. If you experience an unsteady heartrate or feel your heart racing, seek emergency care. If you have been feeling lightheaded or are feeling faint, seek emergency care. If your blood pressure is higher than usual, you are having blurry vision or feeling anxious or having a hard time concentrating, get emergency help. Another severe side effect of Adderall is depression, so be sure to seek help if you experience depression or have a desire to harm yourself or others.
Adderall Side Effects: Moderate
Sometimes Adderall can cause side effects which are considered moderate. It is important that you talk to your doctor about these effects, as he may want to adjust your medication. Side effects which are considered moderate include trouble sleeping, dryness in the mouth, weight gain or loss and lack of appetite. Other side effects include lack of sexual desire or impotence. Contact your doctor if you experience any side effect as a result of Adderall.
Avoid
Avoid drinking any vitamin C drinks (including orange and other fruit juices) while taking your dose of Adderall. Vitamin C may interact with how Adderall is released into your system. Don't take Vitamin C until after one hour of taking your Adderall dose. Avoid operating machinery or driving a car until you are accustomed to how Adderall will affect you, as it can impair your ability to think clearly.
