Clean Nicotine From Old Glass

Nicotine leaves a yellowish film on any material that cigarette smoke touches. If you are a heavy smoker or obtained an antique old glass item from someone, cleaning is important. Also, if you recently quit smoking, cleaning the stains is vital. Some ex-smokers have a heighten sense of smell. Items that still contain the nicotine and smoke can cause an ill feeling. Removing the nicotine will restore the item to the original condition and preserve the object for future generations.

Instructions

1. Place the towel down on a solid flat surface. You could use a kitchen table, hardwood floors or linoleum. Set the old glass item in the middle of the lint free towel.

2. Dampen a section of cloth with rubbing alcohol. Repeat this step as necessary through the cleaning process.

3. Hold the item in place with one hand. Scrub the moist part of the cloth over a section of the old glass item. If the item is small, you may complete the steps without the use of sections. If the item is large, cleaning in sections will help in washing the nicotine off thoroughly.

4. Scour in rows back and forth. Scrub each row at least three times. Scour more if the nicotine is thick.

5. Dry each section or the entire glass item with the second lint free cloth.
