Cigarette smoke permeates the surfaces inside your car.
Some people spend so much time in the car it's almost like a second home. No matter where you're driving, a clean and fresh interior contributes toward a pleasurable ride. Tar and nicotine in cigarettes leave a greasy, smelly film in your car interior. There's no need to wait for the stale smell to dissipate. You can get the smell of cigarettes out of your car by removing the stain with common household supplies that effectively deodorize the smell, too.
Instructions
1. Vacuum the interior of your car to remove any cigarette ashes present.
2. Vinegar naturally removes unpleasant odors and stains.
Pour 1 quart white vinegar into a bucket. Add 1 quart warm water and 2 ounces baking soda. Stir the three ingredients together until mixed well.
3. Soak a cleaning cloth in the vinegar and baking soda solution. Wring out the excess moisture.
4. Wipe off all hard surfaces inside your car with the vinegar and baking soda mixture. Wash the windows, and all other plastic, rubber or vinyl surfaces. Rinse the cloth as the cigarette stains and smoke smell are lifted. Apply more solution and continue to clean.
5. Rinse the hard surfaces in your car interior with a damp cloth. Dry them with another cloth. Spray windows with glass cleaner and wipe dry, if needed, to remove streaks.
6. Wash leather or vinyl seats with the vinegar and baking soda solution as instructed in Steps 4 and 5. Sprinkle baking soda over fabric upholstery and leave it there overnight to absorb smoke smell. Vacuum the baking soda off the next day.
7. Vanilla replaces smoke smell with a more pleasant scent.
Add one drop of vanilla extract to each of two cotton balls. Place one cotton ball in the front area of your car and the other in the back area. Leave the cotton balls inside to absorb any lingering smoke smell. Replenish the scent once each week with an additional drop of vanilla.
